YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
Entry Criteria: Age 8+
Objective: Swim skills – building technique - fun and making friends.
Training focus: Development of skills and technique – learning to train.
Description: Youth Development is the entry point for children joining the club. The focus is on learning the key skills required to progress to Youth 1 in a fun environment, meeting other children and making new friends. By encouraging participation in 2-3 other sports at this stage, we also aim to develop a more general lifelong love of sport in our younger members.
Schedule: 2 x 45/60minute evening sessions per week. We have two Youth Development groups but there are opportunities to move between them.

YOUTH DEV 2
YOUTH 1 AND YOUTH 1+
Entry Criteria: Age 10 – 12
Objective: Swim skills – building technique and aerobic conditioning.
Training focus: Continued development of skills and technique with more emphasis on training and building the aerobic engine in a fun challenging environment.
Description: The emphasis in the Youth 1 squad is on the development of technical, tactical and ancillary swimming skills in a fun environment. The Youth 1+ membership is for the older half of the Youth 1 squad who wish to increase their training volume and have access to an extra session. Training emphasis remains on the development of swimming skills.
Schedule: 4 x 60 minute evening sessions per week plus a 75-90 minute early-morning session on Sunday for Youth 1+.

YOUTH 2 & YOUTH 2+

Entry Criteria: Age 11-18
Objective: Training to train – building the engine.
Training focus: Aerobic conditioning alongside continued development of skills and technique.
Description: In the Youth 2 squad we begin to focus on aerobic conditioning while continuing to develop technical, tactical and ancillary swimming skills. Participation in other sports continues to be encouraged to develop that all-important lifelong love of sport.
Schedule: 4 x 60/75 minute evening sessions per week with an additional 90 minute early-morning session on Friday and Sunday for Youth 2 plus members.

SENIOR & SENIOR +
Entry Criteria: Age 14+
Objective: Training to compete – optimising the engine.
Training focus: Overall physical conditioning for fast swimming – higher volume and intensity.
Description: The senior squad is aimed at those aiming for high-level success in competitive aquatics and consequently represents an increase in training volume, intensity and commitment. The option of additional sessions for senior plus members provides some flexibility in training volume and schedule at this level.
Schedule: 4 x 75/90 minute early-morning sessions per week with an additional sessions for Senior Plus members.

Training focus: This section is aimed at people looking to progress their swim skills confidence and fitness in a structured, coached session. It is an entry into the club for adults with the focus of progressing swimmers to one of our masters sections.
